Greetings all, Sorry about the lack of a July newsletter but: a.) there wasn't much to put in it b.) I used up a lot of my spare time to create the NZCPS Christchurch Branch website This month, however, there is quite a lot to report. NZCPS Christchurch Branch Website If you've got internet access, be sure to check out http://nzcps.treshna.com Meeting updates, CP links, newsletter archives and current seedbank stock are now online and pages for CP buy/sell/exchange as well as a locally grown plant database should be available shortly. If you would like to place a CP-related buy/sell/exchange ad then please feel free to do so, as it is a free service. Mailed, emailed, phoned and carrier-pigeoned ads are all fine. Also, if people could please contribute to the database it would be much appreciated. Hopefully once a few more people have contributed to the database, we will all have a better idea of which species are grown locally and who grows them. All that is required is a list of all the species that you grow, along with the likelihood of each species being available for sale or exchange (eg highly likely, moderately or unlikely). For those without internet access, never fear, the newsletter will continue to be mailed and hardcopies of the plant database will be available to those who send a stamped, self-addressed envelope, once the database has a respectable number of contributors. If you do have internet access and find that receiving a newsletter is just a case of wasting trees, please let me know and I'll take you off the hard-copy mailing list. Library The NZCPS Christchurch branch now has the beginnings of a small library. The books will be available at meetings and may be borrowed for one month for the princely sum of $2.00. Titles obtained so far include: The Savage Garden by Peter D'Amato Carnivorous Plants by Adrian Slack Carnivorous Plants of Australia Volume 3 by Allen Lowrie Exotic Plant Show The EPS 2001 is scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday of Labour Weekend, although confirmation that there are sufficient exhibitors is still a week or so away. MEETINGS The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 26th September at 8:00pm and will be held in the Christchurch YMCA conference room.
