Replacement for the Exotic Plant Show

At the last meeting the discussion was centred on potential replacements for the Exotic Plant
Show. It is hoped to have a society stall at the Plant Expo in the Botanic Gardens in February.
The possibility of having a society presence at school fairs was also discussed. If you know of
a school fair where we would be welcome to have a society stall please give Lawrie Gray a
call on 338-1612. Hopefully the Exotic Plant Show will be up and running again for 2002.
MEETINGS
The next meetings are scheduled for: Wednesday 31st October and Wednesday 28th
November 2001 (ie the last Wednesday of the month) at 8:00pm. There will be no meeting in
December ('cause it's Christmas time!!!)

Agenda for the October meeting: Update on replacement for the Exotic Plant Show.
Ross Taylor will be bringing along a selection of Sarracenia for sale, including various forms of
S. rubra and flava.

Important bits regarding seed:
- When ordering seed, make sure you include an S.A.E.
- Seed costs $1.00 per packet.
- Cheques should be made out to NZCPS-Christchurch Branch.
- If you wish to donate seed, please put the harvest date on it and ensure that
it is free of floral parts - this will make the job of the seed-bank director
that much easier. Once any donated seed has been divided up into saleable
packets you will be credited with 1 packet of free seed for every 3 packets
that result from your donation.

Seed orders and donations should be sent to:
Fern Norton
Seed Bank Director
P.O. Box 7 Sefton
North Canterbury

Alternatively the seed-bank should be available at most meetings.

Library
The NZCPS Christchurch branch now has the beginnings of a small library. The books will be available
at meetings and may be borrowed for one month for the princely sum of $2.00. Titles obtained so far include:
